Terms of Service

Last updated 11 August 2026

These terms cover your use of Frinlie. They are deliberately short, because a agreement nobody reads protects nobody.

The agreement

By using Frinlie you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. “We” means Frinlie; “you” means the person using the account.

Your account

  • You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to hold an account.
  • One person per account. Do not share your credentials.
  • Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else.

Your content, and the people in it

What you record stays yours. You grant us only the permission technically required to run the service for you — storing it, backing it up, and showing it back to you.

Because Frinlie holds notes about other people, you also agree to some things about them:

  • Record only what you have a legitimate reason to remember, in the ordinary course of knowing someone.
  • Do not use Frinlie to monitor, stalk, harass or build a profile of anyone against their interests.
  • Do not create records for children. Note family details on an adult’s entry instead.
  • Write as though the person might one day read it. It is a decent standard, and it is also the safest one.

We may suspend an account we reasonably believe is being used to harm someone.

What we provide

We aim to keep Frinlie available and your data intact, and we take backups accordingly. We cannot promise the service will never be unavailable or that no error will ever occur, which is exactly why your data is exportable at any time. Keep your own copy of anything you would be upset to lose.

Acceptable use

  • Do not attempt to access another person’s account or data.
  • Do not probe, scan or overload the service.
  • Do not resell or redistribute the service without written permission.
  • Do not upload malware or unlawful content.

Ending things

You may stop at any time. Export your data first — one action gives you a complete copy. We may terminate an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, and where we reasonably can we will give you notice and a chance to export.

Liability

Frinlie is provided as-is, without warranties beyond those that cannot lawfully be excluded. To the extent the law allows, our total liability arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Changes

We may update these terms. For material changes we will give notice in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Frinlie after that means you accept the new terms.

Contact

This document is written in plain language to describe how Frinlie actually behaves. It is not legal advice, and if you operate Frinlie in a regulated context you should have it reviewed by a lawyer.
